In the past year, the number of options for playing volleyball in Asheville has grown exponentially. Whether you’re looking for indoor or outdoor play, Asheville has a range of options to meet your needs.

What are my best options for volleyball in Asheville?

Asheville offers several options for playing volleyball, including outdoor and indoor facilities. Here are a few places you can check out:

Carrier Park

This public park offers several sand volleyball courts that are free to use. The park also has a riverfront trail, a dog park, and a playground. Asheville Parks & Recreation (APR) maintains the three sand volleyball courts inside the velodrome located at Carrier Park. Throughout the year, APR offers adult doubles, 4v4, and 6v6 leagues on the sand courts.

Montford Recreation Center

This indoor facility has a volleyball court available for use. You can rent the court by the hour or sign up for one of their adult volleyball leagues through Asheville Parks & Recreation.

Asheville Racquet Club

This private club has indoor and outdoor volleyball courts available for members to use. Non-members can also access the facilities by purchasing a day pass.

WNC Volleyball Club

This club offers indoor volleyball leagues and tournaments for adults and youth. They also have open gym times for drop-in play.

UNC Asheville Campus Recreation

The university’s recreation center offers several indoor volleyball courts that are available for use by students, faculty, staff, and the community. Non-members can purchase a day pass to access the facilities.

Highland Brewing Company, Asheville, North Carolina

Highland Brewing Company is a haven for beach volleyball enthusiasts in Asheville, with 5 sand volleyball courts located in the “Meadow.” Highland Brewing is a host of several social, intermediate, and advanced leagues and tournaments throughout the year.

AVL Hoppers, Asheville, North Carolina

AVL Hoppers is an Asheville-grown philanthropic initiative that empowers athletes to play at a competitive level for their local cause of choice. Their aim is to make competitive volleyball a serious means to bring about real change in the city of Asheville. AVL Hoppers hosts several grass leagues and tournaments throughout the year, with grass leagues currently being held at the softball fields at Carrier Park and Roger Farmer Park.

Lake Julian Park

This park has a beach area that includes a sand volleyball court. The court is available for use during park hours, and the park also offers other amenities like boat rentals and picnic areas.

The Asheville Racquet Club

The club has a sand volleyball court available for use by members and non-members. The court is located outdoors and is available for use year-round, weather permitting.

WNC Volleyball Club

The club has an indoor sand volleyball court available for use during the colder months. The court is available for drop-in play and can also be rented for private events.

Sweeten Creek Brewing Company
