Southside Townhomes Guide
Built-in two phases and completed in 2020 by Buchanan Construction out of Asheville, these brilliantly designed townhouses are built emphasizing customer satisfaction. This company is a member of the Asheville Home Builders, Green Built Alliance, and is an Energy Star Partner. Rick Buchanan, on his website, in his own words, indicated that he has a "passion" for building, and these townhouses are proof.
18 units range from 2-3 bedrooms with anywhere from 2,654 square feet to 2,919 square feet. Each unit has its own private residential elevator making it easier to navigate; individual covered parking garages, fresh, open plans with contemporary trim, and quartz countertops giving this space a polished look. Most of the gourmet modern kitchens have either an island or a kitchen bar for additional seating. There is a mini-split HVAC system. The exterior has a current single slope roof design that is esthetically pleasing to the eye. The outside is made of stucco. The surrounding neighborhood has well-maintained sidewalks and outdoor street lamps. There are also security cameras on the front and back of the property for extra safety. There are ground rules about the number of guests allowed to reduce noise pollution for other residences. For history aficionados: the "South Slope," this area is affectionately called by some has wider streets than most as it was one of the first streets in Asheville built specifically with car traffic in mind, according to the Asheville.com resource. It has just been within the last 10 years it transitioned into the district that you can see today filled with a diverse mix of restaurants, breweries, and galleries.
There are wonderful rooftop decks with modern-day pavers to catch the breeze or indulge in container gardening. The views of the city at night are captivating. Many of these residences have gas fireplaces to snuggle up next to on chilly evenings.
These townhomes are pet-friendly and have a liberal established pet policy. These townhomes are within walking distance to two parks if you want to take your dog: Pritchard Park in the heart of downtown Asheville and Aston Park. If you are willing to drive a short distance, you can take your pet to the French Broad River Dog Park, where many locals go.
There are parking garages attached to each townhome with an entrance into a foyer to deposit your coats and umbrella.
These townhomes are situated in an area known as the "South Slope," which is just a few minutes from the heart of bubbling downtown Asheville. Romantic Asheville.com acknowledged that many call the South Slope the "Brewery District" because it has 8 in the vicinity. Advantages of this area are its proximity to the River Arts District, The Biltmore House, and bustling downtown.
Because of its strategic location, the Southside Townhomes have easy access to most of Asheville's booming artistic and cultural activities. Whether you decide to take a bike ride down to the River's Arts District to take a glass bead-making class or take your family and friends to see the Asheville Tourists play ball, it is close to the source.

In the Press
Great insights about the building, development, and history.
According to an article in Freestone Properties on February 25, 2019, Townhomes are ideal for "seasonal residency" because the HOA takes care of the exterior property, "there is not much crime in Asheville," "property taxes are relatively low," and the weather is moderate.
A 2020 article in the Parade of Homes indicated that a reason to see these homes (Southside Townhomes) is they sit in Asheville's heart center and are "modern luxury intertwined with energy efficiency."
