My Favorite Neighborhoods in West Asheville

Posted on June 4, 2023

Having lived in West Asheville for years, it’s hard to pick a favorite.

Walking around, the neighborhoods in West Asheville each carry a distinctive style and feel.

As a general rule of thumb, you won’t really find rows of cookie-cutter homes here. That’s definitely one of the things I love most about West Asheville.

What I find genuinely refreshing about West Asheville is that while each neighborhood is walkable, they all boast unique character and charm.

As you wander from one to the next, you’ll see the diversity in home styles, reflecting the individual tastes and stories of the residents.

Meanwhile, the Greenway is a beautiful, peaceful stretch of nature – the perfect place to decompress after a long day.

Malvern Hills and Horney Heights: A Dip Next Door

With their proximity to the community pool, Malvern Hills and Horney Heights are a refreshing choice. Each home tells a different story with its unique style.

After a swim, you can enjoy a delightful meal at Sunny Point Café, a homey spot known for its farm-to-table dishes and homemade desserts, just a short stroll away.

Vermont, West Asheville Estates, Falconhurst, and Brucemont: The Heartbeat of Haywood

Vermont, West Asheville Estates, Falconhurst, and Brucemont neighborhoods share a common perk – they’re steps away from Haywood Rd., the main artery cutting through West Asheville.

After your wandering around the shops, grab a bite of pizza at the famed Standard Pizza Co., a neighborhood favorite within walking distance.

Hall Fletcher: A Dog Lover’s Dream

Hall Fletcher offers close access to the French Broad Dog Park and The Greenway, making it a canine paradise. After a good romp with your furry friend, head over to Biscuit Head, renowned for their unique take on Southern brunch – it’s just a leisurely walk away.

Morningside Park: Green Spaces Galore

Morningside Park is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream, being close to Carrier Park. To complement your active lifestyle, The Admiral is a quick walk from this neighborhood.

This restaurant might look unassuming from the outside, but it’s well-known for its innovative and delicious dishes.

The Lesser-Knowns: Small but Special

The smaller neighborhoods of West Asheville are gems waiting to be discovered, each carrying a unique charm. You can round off a pleasant day in one of these neighborhoods with a trip to Tastee Diner – a cozy, family-friendly place that serves up classic diner fare, within a comfortable walking distance.

Choosing a favorite neighborhood might be a challenge, given the unique appeal and character of each.

But the beauty of West Asheville lies precisely in this diversity.

It invites exploration, encouraging you to discover, experience, and appreciate its varied faces.
